VI World Nomad Games 2026 — Traditional Archery, Kyrgyzstan
The VI World Nomad Games take place in Kyrgyzstan from 31 August to 6 September 2026, with Kyrchyn Gorge in the Issyk-Kul Region hosting the traditional archery competitions. The traditional ground archery programme brings three very different formats to the same event. Kyrgyz target archery is shot at 40 metres, Turkish target archery at 70 metres for men and 60 metres for women, while the Korean traditional archery round takes both men and women out to 145 metres. Horseback archery is also part of the programme at Kyrchyn, adding mounted competition to an already varied week of traditional shooting. A total of 196 archers from 51 countries entered the traditional ground archery programme. With shooting distances ranging from 40 to 145 metres and several distinct archery traditions represented, the Games offer a rare opportunity to see very different approaches to traditional competition side by side. For traditional archers, Kyrchyn Gorge will be one of the places to watch during the VI World Nomad Games.
